Big River into Big Lake in Northeast Wisconsin

Besides the actual property (nicely wooded, great location, sand shoreline) there are many reasons to get involved with Eagles Point on the Menominee. If you are not already familiar with this part of Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, or even if you are, you may be surprised at what this location offers.

Recreation

Cross-Country Skiing - Miles of groomed trails with contours suitable for the novice and the expert. From small resorts with equipment rentals, to the Marinette County Cross Country Ski Association's well managed trail system, and the Cedar River Pathway which has 17.5 miles of State maintained trails, this area has many choices for winter time sport.

Snowmobiling - Nearby trails will take you into thousands of acres of forest lands in Marinette, Florence and Oconto Counties in Wisconsin, down along the shores of Green Bay or across the border into the state forest lands of Michigan. One can ride to almost anywhere in northern Wisconsin or the UP of Michigan from this location.

Waterfalls - Marinette County has dozens of larger falls and hundreds of smaller waterfalls. Many are easily accessible via county parks or forest lands that are yours to explore.

ATV-ing - Northeastern Wisconsin has become a recreational playground for ATV enthusiasts with the forest lands, lakes and rivers providing riders with an unmatched setting for riding. Wisconsin's, Marinette County has over 130 miles of year-round trails and Oconto County has nearly 110 miles of trails. Jump across the border into the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and unless a specific state forest road is posted closed to off road vehicles it is legal to operate on state forest roads as well as the designated trail systems.

Hunting - Opportunities are doubled with a location near the bridge that connects Wisconsin and Michigan. The two counties that are served by the bridge offer well over 300,000 acres of federal, state and county forest lands. Additionally, there are thousands of acres of forest crop lands, managed forest lands and commercial forest act lands that are open to hunting and recreation. Marinette County has one of the largest whitetail deer populations in North America. Marinette County has good populations of grouse and woodcock and a spring turkey hunting season. Pheasant are found in the agricultural areas of Marinette County. Populations of mallards, wood ducks and migrating geese are found along the Green Bay shoreline or in the backwaters of the area's flowages.

Bicycling - From paved rural lanes to back country trails there is a ride just right for almost anyone. Several local biking clubs provide maps, rides and route development.

Golfing - From 9 to 27 holes, Marinette County has nine public golf courses. Across the border in Michigan there are a wide variety of courses open to the public. These well maintained courses are very affordable when compared to southern Wisconsin and Lower Michigan.

Whitewater Rafting and Kayaking - The roaring rapids section of the upper Peshtigo River provides whitewater action on one of the longest continuous stretches of whitewater rapids in the Midwest. Flows ranging from 300 to more than 3,000 cubic feet per second can turn the Class II rapids into Class III-IV waters. If you prefer a milder ride, late spring and summer are just right for first time rafters. The upper Menominee River has rapids similar to the great western rivers including scenery through towering bluffs and rock outcroppings. Whitewater rafting companies offer guided and unguided trips, instruction and equipment.

With fall color tours, hiking, berry picking, dog-sledding, lighthouses, and Great Lakes sport fishing this area of Northeastern Wisconsin and the lower Upper Peninsula of Michigan offers recreational possibilities so diverse and numerous that it would be impossible to list them all. From just sitting on the dock and watching the water to getting out and exploring the area, Eagles Point on the Menominee will serve as an excellent home base for enjoying this northern environment.
